BARBEROS DEL FUTURO

Mission: 

Empowering youth through education and skill development in the art of barbering, 

while providing free haircuts to children in need.

• Project Overview: Barberos del Futuro was initiated in 2020 as the flagship endeavor of our foundation. Collaborating with Etje365Barber, an esteemed friend, we embarked on a mission to offer complimentary haircuts to underprivileged children in the impoverished areas of Medellin. Our journey began with the partnership of Luis, a Venezuelan barber seeking refuge from the challenges in his homeland. Together, we aimed not only to provide haircuts but also to foster a sense of care and positivity, brightening the days of these children.

• Expansion and Empowerment: Recognizing the untapped potential among the youth, we expanded our efforts to focus on education. Introducing "Barberos del Futuro," we provided comprehensive classes led by professional barbers. Eight motivated youngsters joined our initiative, eager to hone their skills and aspire towards becoming independent barbers.

• Scaling Up with Partnerships: The pivotal moment came with the involvement of Toon, whose support elevated our project to new heights. With his contributions, including investments in top-tier materials, we enhanced the learning experience for our students. Alongside dedicated educators like Yonatan Gil and Yesid Sanchez, both products of the Barberos del Futuro program, we formed a robust team committed to nurturing the aspirations of our motivated teenagers.

• Board Involvement and Sustainability: The project garnered attention from individuals deeply passionate about its impact. Denise, a close associate of Toon, embraced the initiative wholeheartedly, eventually assuming a position on our foundation's board. Her involvement further solidified our commitment to sustainability and long-term success.

• Program Structure and Opportunities: Participants undergo a six-month basic trajectory, progressing through three distinct phases. Those demonstrating motivation, punctuality, and discipline are granted access to official certification programs recognized by the government. This certification opens doors to enhanced opportunities in the job market, empowering our participants to build brighter futures for themselves.

The Barber Project stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, mentorship, and community engagement. Through our collective efforts, we aim to not only groom hairstyles but also nurture dreams and ignite possibilities for generations to come.
